Me Spunt on Mike FM

During Monday November 2, 2020 episode, Me Spunt and Marie discussed divorce during COVID, debunked the myth of common law couples and explained in detail that they do not have any of the same rights as married couples. You have to be your own advocate and be sure that your rights are protected. For example if you buy a house with your partner and you are not married make sure your name is on the deed of sale! Me Spunt also discussed language discrimination in a superior court judgement that contravenes the Constitution of Canada from 1867.

On Monday September 22, 2020 Me Spunt and Marie honoured the Honourable Justice Ruth Badar Ginsberg Associate  justice of the Supreme Court of the United States for 27 years, who sadly passed on September 18, 2020 at the age of 87. During this time she changed the legal world and in consequence the rest of the world around her. She improved gender equality for women and men, constitutional rights, and everything in between to give a voice for those who did not have one. Me Spunt discussed how inspiring and influential Justice Ginsberg has been on her career, similarly to Honourable Justice Claire L'Heureux-Dubé, retired judge from the Supreme court of Canada who she was lucky enough to sit down with and talk during the time she was a judge in residence at Université Laval in Quebec city. Me Spunt and Marie also discussed pressing issues in family law and divorce during this pandemic.
